Do you really love the person you see in the mirror?

You know those people who tell you how much they love you and how much they care about you...

It sounds nice but somehow...you just don`t belive that. They are not here when you need them, you have a feeling that they don`t really pay attention, they show up when they need something and then disappear again...

After being in contact with them you stay with a feeling of emptyness, you feel like they usedd you somehow, you feel like something is uncompleted. It is not pleasant to have people like that in your life, to expect something from them, to depend on them.

There is also another kind of people. Those who don`t talk much about their love for you, they don`t talk about it all the time, but you simply feel their love. You see it in their eyes, hear it hear it in their voice, feel it in their touch. They listen carefully. They ask you how are you, what do you need, what do you wish for. They ask you did you eat something, how did you sleep, did you dream something...It`s nice to have them around, everyday or just occasionally. Sometimes they live far away from you and you don`t see them very often, but even those rare encounters make you feel fulfilled and enriched.

But, this is not the text about other people.

This is the text about you.

If someone asks you "Do you love yourself?"  you`ll say "Yes, of course I love myself."

"Do you respect and appreciate youself?"

"Yes! Of course!"

"Do you take care of youself?"

"Yes! Why all those questions?"

Ok, if you say so... here are some more questions...

How often do you look in the mirror and really pay attention to the person you see there?

How often do you ask yourself "How do I feel?", "What do I feel?", "What do I need?", "What bothers me?", "What do I want?", "What scares me?"....

And how often do you take the time to hear the answers?

And if you hear them, how much time and energy are you willing to give to meet your needs, to fulfill your wishes, to nurture yourself, to comfort yourself, to encourage yourself?

Do you meet yourself everyday, ocassionally or never?

Do you really love the person you see in the mirror?

Do you pay attention to her?

Do you take care of her, do you cherrish her?
